Early Life and Education:
Om Birla was born on 23rd November 1962 in Kota, Rajasthan. He comes from a simple background, did his early education in Kota and then did his graduation from Government Commerce College. His interest in social service and community development was visible from his childhood, which was the base of his future public life.
Political Career:
Birla entered politics during his college days when he was actively involved in student politics. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and rose to the party leadership very fast. In 2003 he was elected as a Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from the Kota South constituency as He defeated Shanti Dhariwal from Congress by a margin of 10,101 votes. He was a Cabinet Minister in the Rajasthan government and handled the Public Works Department and Tourism portfolios.
Parliamentary
In 2014 Om Birla won his first general election to Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament from the Kota-Bundi constituency. His victory was a message to society about his popularity among the people and his dedication to their welfare. Birla’s excellent parliamentary skills and ability to raise the issues of the people earned him respect from his colleagues and opposition.

Speaker of Lok Sabha:
In June 2019 Om Birla created history by being unanimously elected as the Speaker of Lok Sabha. His election was a result of his image as a fair and impartial leader. As the Speaker he plays a key role in maintaining the decorum and facilitating the constructive debates in the Parliament. He has been ensuring the smooth functioning of the house and upholding the democratic values which are the foundation of Indian governance.
