It is known from the study of historical and religious texts that in the past, the Indian education session was divided into three main categories. First, education and sanskar received from the influence of mother, second, education and sanskar received from the influence of father and third, education and sanskar received from the influence of teacher.

In the Gurukul of Guru Sandipani, Shri Krishna studied political science, diplomacy, economics, moral education, religion, karma, salvation, justice philosophy etc., due to which Shri Krishna later became the man of the era.

Vikramshila:

It was found that this school had four arched gates. There was an entrance examination hall at each arched gate. The students who came here to study had to first give the examination to the scholars present at these gates. In this Gurukul, there were eight great Gurus like Ratnavaj, Lila Vaj, Dipankar, Shrigyan, Bodhibhadra, Kamalarakshit etc. and 108 Gurus.

In this Gurukul, education was imparted in the study of Dharma, Nyaya, Philosophy and Tantra. The number of teachers for the study was 1,500. The chief guru in the Gurukul was Sheelbhadra. There were three huge libraries, which had books on various subjects. The Gurukul had great scholars in the field of education like Jinamitra, Chandrapal, Gyan Chandra, Prabhakarmitra, and Bhadrasen, among whom the name of Acharya Shantarakshit is especially noteworthy. During his time, the Nalanda Gurukul was famous all over the world.

The city is named Takshila, the oldest educational institution in India, where great politicians like Chanakya and surgeons like Kumarajiv were the Gurus. Students from India and abroad used to come to this Gurukul to study 18 subjects, especially economics, politics and Ayurveda.

The historians had two sons – Takshila and Pushkarpur who established the cities of Pushkaravarta and Kshatakshashila. Takshila remained prosperous from 500 years before Christ to the sixth century. The remains of this Gurukul contain a great prosperous civilisation.
