How Covid-19 is different from other viruses?
First of all, we have to understand one thing very clearly, why this COVID-19 virus is way different from other viruses. In the past few decades, we have seen some viruses but this covid-19 virus is an RNA virus we have to think and take it in our mind that this is not a DNA virus this is an RNA virus. And now if you ask us about the difference between the DNA virus and RNA virus then we can’t explain you hear.
Still, we would like to mention a common difference and that is the most important difference between these two kinds of viruses, that is DNA viruses do not change their structure with different atmospheres or in different situations. Still, coronavirus changes its structure in different situations in a different atmosphere. The most dangerous point about the virus is, that it changes its structure and characteristics according to the weather and atmosphere.
So because of this particular reason, we have faced the problem at that level. So if you think deeply, then you can understand one thing, our world has a different atmosphere and different weather in its different parts. That means it is inevitable that the atmosphere of the African continent and the atmosphere of the European continent, the Asian continent, the North American continent, and the South American continents are not the same.
So that is why the virus also can change its structure and its characteristics according to the weather in different parts of the world and this is why we have faced a lot of variants of this Covid-19 virus. just think if this virus was a DNA virus then the structure of this virus could be the same in every continent of the world and there could be some easy ways to control the virus. So here below we have mentioned some variants that we faced of this COVID-19 virus.
We all know, that the first case of the COVID-19 virus was detected in China in 2019 in the name of the variant SARS-COV-2 but later we faced a lot of variants and still now it’s changing its variant. The list of variants of the virus is below-
Variants of Concern (VOC) | |||||
S. No. | Name of Variant | Lineage | Earliest Sample | First Outbreak | Designated |
1. | Alpha | B.1.1.7 | September 2020 | United Kingdom | 18 December 2020 |
2. | Beta | B.1.351 | May 2020 | South Africa | 18 December 2020 |
3. | Gamma | P.1 | November 2020 | Brazil | 11 January 2021 |
4. | Delta | B.1.617.2 | October 2020 | India | 11 May 2021 |
So as you have seen the types of virus are different in different parts of the world and it is completely dependent on the specific atmosphere of different demographical weather. That is the main reason we have faced so many types of covid 19 variants. Well, we all know that our world has different kinds of atmosphere in the different parts of it.

If you try to understand then it is pretty clear to understand that the atmosphere of North America and South America and the atmosphere of the European continent of the Asian continent or the Australian continent atmospheres are different from each other. Their geographical weathers are also different so that is why as we know COVID-19 is an RNA so it can easily change its characteristics according to the atmosphere and weather. That is why we have faced so many types of variants of the covid 19 virus from different countries like the UK, South Africa, Brazil and India.
How the RNA factor of this COVID-19 virus has been a big problem in making a proper vaccine easily:
So we know that the COVID-19 vaccine was the main missile for us to fight against covid-19 virus and some countries made it successful. One of the most popular vaccines that we have is Pfizer and some others like SINOVAC, MODERNA, SPUTNIK V, Oxford–AstraZeneca, COVISHIELD, COVAXIN and there are some more. If you note the effective percentage of these vaccines against the covid-19 virus, they claim 80%,75%,90% or 95% but no one claims 100% effectiveness of the vaccine against Covid-19.
So here is the question why they can’t claim that these vaccines will fight against the COVID-19 virus with a hundred per cent effectiveness why they can’t say that? Well we will give you the answer and the answer is very easy we have already mentioned and the answer is the COVID-19 virus is an RNA virus. Suppose a country named “X ” has completed 100% vaccination of its citizens.
Now if country “X” thinks that the country has been risk-free then this is wrong because the country is not out of the world, well it is good if the country has completed 100% vaccination but that doesn’t mean that there will be no one who will be affected by any kind of variant from all around the world. Look vaccination is the most important thing in today’s world to fight against the covid-19 virus.
It will help a man’s body fight against the virus but that does not mean that if a person is vaccinated then he or she will be not affected by the COVID-19 virus again shortly. Recently we have seen that some countries have notified again to its citizens as some cases of COVID-19 are being notified and as we know as of 2024 around 70 per cent of the total population of the world is vaccinated but still, we should be so conscious because of the ability of covid to change its structure.
So now the final question what will be our future with covid 19?:
To answer this question we will have to be more and more practical. We have to understand that in our world we’re living with more than almost 700 million people and to complete the vaccination for all the people is still not that easy. First of all, completing the vaccination process for every person in the world is a long-term process. According to a report, 70 per cent of the world population has completed vaccination as of 2024 and we think all the governments, WHO, UN and all the international organizations should work together at a rapid speed.
We have faced the badest phase of the killer virus even when we didn’t have any idea about the virus. So many people lost their loved ones in every part of the world. We have seen how people have been helpless and we should be proud of ourselves self how all those real heroes fought with bravery against COVID-19.
But the problem is the variant of the virus as we have mentioned above this virus can change its structure according to its weather and atmosphere so as some cases of COVID-19 are increasing we all should be aware of the situation that we have already faced in a few years back. The world doesn’t want any lockdowns, right?
So all the countries should be aware of the situation a new variant should not be created any more and if it has been created then don’t let the virus spread again. All the global leaders should come forward to understand the current situation and take early steps.
